“I Zimbra” by The Talking Heads

I just found out that this song (one of my favourites) is actually an adaptation of the poem “Gadji beri bimba” by Dadaist Hugo Ball. 

And here I was, singing the nonsensical lyrics under the impression that I was butchering actual words that I never listen to (as is the case with pretty much every other song). I still have issues accepting that the 1999 song “I Try” by one-hit-wonder Macy Gray says “My world crumbles when you are not here”, and not “I wear goggles with your underwear”.
